Saturday night I painted little girl's toe nails. It reminded me of how my Aunt would always paint my nails bright O.P.I cajun shrimp red when I would stay the night with her. I was a bit of a prissy girl, in my opinion, I loved baby dolls, dressing up in past halloween princess dresses, and wearing super large bows in my hair. It's probably too early to tell, but little girl seems to be leaning towards the girler side as well. She loves to snuggle her stuffies, most specifically her little dollies, and doesn't rip off her baby bracelets or crazy head bands I put on her. I would be perfectly okay if she was more of a tom boy and preferred sports and mud over dollies and dresses, but I love the idea of painting her nails every Saturday night before bed, fixing her hair in almost comical ways, watching her "host" tea parties and convincing her to take off her princess dress so we can go to the store. Some of the most special memories I have of my mother are memories of her curling my hair and letting my wear one of her necklaces. I felt so beautiful with my curled hair, feathered bangs and her heart necklace hanging around my neck. I hope painting my baby girl's nails was just the catalyze to more memories that only a daughter and mother can share.
oh! i love this picture and post. she looks so sweet, watching carefully what you're doing. i agree that it's so fun to be a girl & get fixed up...being a mama makes those times even more special & fun!
