Update June 2013

Time for a much needed update on my littles while Tavin takes a cartoon break and Eylee takes an afternoon nap...and I take a break from all my other responsibilities.

Eylee:

This lil' gal is growing WAY too fast! She was early on everything. Everything except sprouting teeth. Currently she's only got 4. Two toppers and two bottom. She is seriously the most happy girl ever, except for last Sunday when she decided to make strange with...well strangers. She enjoys sticking her pointer finger at and in everything she can find. Most recently she has discovered that when you jam your finger up Dad-da's nose at church, it will begin bleeding all over his Sunday best. She also enjoys sucking her pointer finger and ramming it in Tavin's ear. Needless to say, Tavin does NOT like wet-willies.
Eylee is a singer. Most people find it quite annoying how she squeals wherever we go but I know she's just singing her high pitched operatic medley composed entirely by herself. On Saturday mornings, Ben will sing a song's chorus and Eylee will chant it back to him. Pretty impressive if you ask me. I mean, Tavin is almost tone deaf.
Eylee isn't much of a cuddler. She's slept through the night since she was a babe. (Lucky? Oh, yes. But sad 'cause I'm a cuddler) She can just easily be laid down and fall asleep on her own.
She loves all kinds of food and can easily out eat her brother at every meal. No wonder she's ginormous already.
She has become my little shadow and assists me with all household tasks. It slows me down but I love having her company.
She's recently been caught splashing in the toilet (after Tavin forgot to flush), eating toilet paper, running to jump down the stairs, chewing on electrical cords and hiding Tavin's cars in her little purse or my shoes.

Tavin is HUGE! He's finally gaining on other kids his age and has already outgrown his 3T pants.
He loves going to Church and participating in Primary. He always raises his hand to say prayer, read a scripture with help, or be involved in an activity. Singing time is probably the highlight of his week. Although he's not the best singer, he sure does love music. He always runs into the kitchen shouting, "Let's dance crazy, Mama!!!" So of course we turn on some "fast" music and dance like crazy people.
He's learning how to play with his sister. They giggle and play together each day. But when wrestling starts, Eylee clears the room...if she can. When asked, Tavin will say he wants a baby brother next so they can wrestle together.
Tavin is becoming a little obsessed with death lately. A baby bird fell out of his/her nest one night during a storm and when Tavin found him lying lifeless in the grass he became very concerned about what would happen next. Ben explained about life and death and the boys agreed upon burying the baby bird. Today while playing outside he found a dead dried up worm and is already planning the funeral for him and wants all his worm friends to be present.
Ben and I have daily "heart to heart" talks with Tavin. Lately we've been teaching him how to eat. That sounds kinda silly but if you knew Tavin it wouldn't. Sometimes I wonder how Tavin grows at all, he seriously almost never eats except for apples, bananas, strawberries and drinking milk. Ben showed him pictures of starving children and obese children hoping to, idk, scare the kid into eating healthy. So now while eating Tavin will say things like, "I'm eating my food so my bones don't come on the outside of my body!" or he'll see dessert and say, "I can't eat too much of that or I'll be so big that my heart will stop beating!!!" I'm in the process of teaching him to not comment on other's eating habits and to DEFINITELY to not comment on others who are heavier. We'll see how that goes...
Tavin is looking more like Ben but acting more and more like me everyday. He's pretty dramatic and sometimes expresses his feelings with a sharp tongue that I remember learning to tame as a youth.
He loves his cousins and talks about them constantly. He can instantly become friends with anyone. He loves to play hide and seek. He tires easily of playing by himself and yearns to be at Preschool already.

Yesterday we built a fort since the weather was so rainy. Eylee's giggle at the beginning is the sweetest sound to me.

  1. This made me bawl and miss you guys! I wish you lived closer- I feel like I could learn so much from you and that our kids would be best friends for sure. Especially Mars and Eyla. Your kids are so amazing (they get a lot of that from their Mama).
