Family Day 2013

Today was Family Day! A day full of fun and tons of free stuff for kids! This year we went to the Legislature with Uncle John-John and Auntie Jenny (two of Monkey's favorite people ever). It was extremely packed in the kid's carnival area but we managed to do a lot. Ben and John were nice enough to wait in the face painting line for an hour while Jenny and I took Monkey to play some games. When it was Monkey's turn to paint his face, he knew he wanted to be a tiger. I was so impressed with how he hopped right up into the chair, closed his eyes, and happily waited to be transformed.
-I guess I was surprised really, last year he cried at the thought of someone touching his face with a paint brush-
Afterwards, we waited in line at a photo-booth to take some silly pictures, then on our way to have some pizza and wings. It was great spending this Family Day with John & Jenny, more fun than if it was just us four.
Monkey fell asleep on the way home and when he awoke, and learnt it was time to shower and wash his face, he freaked. I mean, f-r-e-a-k-e-d out. He stood in front of the mirror and cried. Actually, it was more than just crying, he sobbed. But it was epic sobbing. Ya know the sobbing where your whole body shakes, you can't breathe, and words sound like a jumbled mess of pig latin? Yeeeeah.
Other than the melt down, today was awesome! Thanks, John-John and Jenny for spending it with us!
