Well the summer is pretty much over up here in Edmonton. So sad. But we had a GREAT one! We were gone for 5 weeks and it was probably one of the BEST vacations we have ever had. (Although there were a few times Ben and I became so stressed out with our kids we questioned why we ever went on vacation to begin with. ....more on that later)
We have been canning up a storm over here. It started with crab apples from our back yard...then we bought some peaches and nectarines..then 120 lbs of cherries. This winter is going to be a tasty one. Canning is something I have learnt that I honestly and truly really love doing. I'm a "before and after" kinda person. I love to clean because I love the after of all my efforts. Canning is pretty much the same thing and even INCLUDES cleaning. (Wow. That makes me sound really weird) I just love seeing my dinning room table completely covered with jars upon jars of cans filled with super yummy food. ahhh...I can't wait to try that first jar of cherries.
Lately Monkey has been picking up words and putting together sentences that surprise me. He got to hang around a bunch of older cousins this summer and he picked up a lot of their lingo. haha Luckily, all his cousins are super awesome kids...but he did learn how to say, "NO! Stay away!" when he wants to be alone and play by himself. My favorite is after I dress up the baby for the day, Monkey will lay down beside her and say, "Oh my! Baby is a princess!" So stinkin' sweet.
Caitlin,
ReplyDeleteI just read your entire blog, and I felt the same way you do about it. I know I am going to have to get into it eventually (when I have my baby). I love your stories, and don't worry I am a list person too. its literally the only way i get things done sometimes. i may have to get some tips when i actually start! Take care!
Your kids are so darling! I need to learn more about canning. I am so sad that we were not in KY at the same time. It would have been so fun to see you.
